Flashing nRF9160 DK from a browser using Web USB or WebSerial

Hello! I'm interesting in developing a tool for a client that would allow them to flash an nRF9160 DK from their browser. The common way this is achieved is a Chrome/Chromium browser and either Web USB or WebSerial. Segger has a Web USB example on their wiki and since the DK has a Segger OB chip, I was wondering if it was possible to use a library from Segger and/or Nordic to assist in the flashing process. You can see example of such a tool from another vendor here. Thanks!

  • Hello Jonathan,

This is something we've looked into for some time now, but it is tricky. Solutions out there like the ones mentioned are pretty unstable and work only on a very limited selection of browsers and the break often as browsers are updated. We do not have anything available unfortunately, and making this is not a priority for us right now so we cannot promise anything for the future, and especially not for the 9160 modem as this requires special handling from a programmer.
