Thread Border Router with nRF5340dk

Hi, I'm trying to setup a border router into my thread architecture right now, and I noticed in the Infocenter for setting up a Thread border router, it mentions to get a Rasberry Pi 3 B and any of these.

• nRF52840 Development Kit
• nRF52840 Dongle
• nRF52811 Development Ki

Is only these specific hardware capable of implementing the border router functionality? Can we use an nRF5340 DK, along with a newer Rasberry pi version, such as the rasberry pi 4?

Hi,

First of all, if you are going to be working with the nRF5340, you'll be using the nRF Connect SDK (the nRF5 SDK doesn't support the nRF5340). So the relevant documentation is actually this one:

The only compatible devices listed there are still the nRF52 series devices. I haven't come across anyone using an nRF5340 for this, but it might be possible. I see there's a case here on getting the co-processor application to run on the nRF5340:  How to successfully build Thread coprocessor RCP for nrf5340?

On the host side, I don't think there's anything special about the Raspberry Pi 3 that would exclude the RPi 4.

So you could try this, and see if you can get it to work.
