No boards found in nRF Connect for VS Code

I want to work with the nRF Connect Plugin for VS Code and my nRF52840 DK with Zephyr. I created a new application from the "nRF Connect" plugin and selected the hello world example for Zephyr

The project was created without an issue, but I can not create a build configuration, because there is no board available:

How can I fix this?

Did you install nRF Connect SDK through the toolchain manager and start VS code from the toolchain manager (which will also check that all plug-ins are installed): https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/nrf/installation/assistant.html

yes I did that. The toolchain manager has also installed one missing plugin for VS Code, but the problem still exists.

Can you try to do a restart, I have seen odd problems if there are multiple windows of vs code open and sometimes a restart is required.

Also it's possible to click on the nRF connect for VS code extention in VS code and Extention settings (see gear icon) to check if some of the configuration looks wrong.

I have restarted the system and use the nRF Toolchain Manager to start VS Code, but the issue still exists.
