How to buy a nrf51 Beacon Module with 3rd revision chip

Hi,

As explained in devzone.nordicsemi.com/.../ I want to interface my Beacon to a Invensense sensor with I2C. I'm having a hard time about using the I2C drivers/examples, as it seems previous versions had some bugs, and some old ones don't work with the softdevice.

As an answer to my previous post, it seems 3rd Revision chips in SDK 9 have examples and new drivers. The problem is that the Beacons I bought in Jun 2015 all have 2nd revision nrf51. It seems some Beacons modules have the latest 3rd revision chips, but how can I be sure to get those when I order through sites like Digikey?

Any help on this or even any working example of I2C on Rev. 2 chips that works fine with the softdevice is appreciated.

  • Thanks for the info. The problem is that as you haven't changed or included some revision numbers at the end of the part number, distributors can not let me know which one they have. For example Mouser said that: "We have mixed stock in our bins as we open manufacturer packaging to be able to sell by the piece". Update - Just heard back from Digikey and it seems they have Rev. 1.2.0 or 1.2.1.
