nRF Connect for VS Code - Thread Viewer window empty

Hello,

I am starting with the nRF Connect. I got a nRF52840 DK and I am following the 'nRF Connect for VS Code' YT series.

I got as far as part 5 (debugging), but I cannot get the Thread Viewer going. I can set breakpoints and inspect variables and memory but the Thread Viewer window remains empty. I made sure that the debug options are enabled in the build configuration. I also set 'CONFIG_DEBUG_THREAD_INFO=y' in prj.conf.

Some basic information:

• VS Code 1.81.1
• nRF Connect 2.4.0
• Win10

The nRF Connect is a clean installation. VS Code, however, is an older install as I am using it with an nRF SDK project.

Any idea what could be wrong here?

Which sample are you trying to debug here? Are you seeing the same when you try any samples from the SDK? Can you share a screenshot from VScode?

Hi Abhijith,

I am closely following the 'nRF Connect for VS Code' Youtube series. The sample application I am using is created from  zephyr/samples/basic/threads (basic thread example), as explained in the video.

Exactly the same happens with nrf samples (I tried peripheral_uart).

Hello,

That's strange. It should list all the threads and their states. Can you try updating VSCode once? I think you can check for updates in the settings, and while checking the screenshot, I can see that there are 10 issues listed under the problems tab. What are those issues?

Hello Menon,

VSCode is set to update automatically in the background. When checking manually (Help->Check for Updates...) it says that there are no updates.

The issues are mainly due to IntelliSense not being configured for NCS. I added the NCS path to c_cpp_properties.json and the problems disappeared.

Are there any known incompatibilities with other VSCode plugins? Can plugins step on each other's toes?
