Can we merge nRF91 app and modem hex to speed up production flasing.

Hi,

We are using nrfjprog command to flash application and modem firmware to nRF91 custom board in production.

Application flashing takes - ~10 seconds.

Modem flashing takes - ~50 seconds

Commands using for flashing hex files.

Application hex – “nrfjprog --program merged.hex -f nrf91 --chiperase –verify”

Mode hex -  “nrfjprog --program mfw_nrf9160_1.3.5.zip -f nrf91 --chiperase –verify”

 

Please help us with below questions:

1. Is there any way merger both application and modem firmware to flash both hex in single shot.?
2. Is there any way speed to modem flashing as it takes ~50 seconds.?

No, it is not possible to merge the two, as they program two separate cores. These have two different approaches in how they perform the flashing.

The speed is due to how the modem is programmed and how it deletes a flash page.
