Chip definition file for the QF package, QFN48 nRF52840-QF

Hello

Am not used with the terminology, the nRF Connect SDK and Zephyr is new to me, so the question might seem a bit odd.

Are there any board file/dts file/... that describes the nRF52840-QFAA in NCS? There seems to be only for the QIAA package.

If not, are there any guides I can follow as a help then porting a board file/dts file/... to tje QF chip package?

Sincerely
Henrik

  • Hello Henrik,

The difference between QFAA and QIAA lies in the number of ball pads and the size. QFAA is the QFN48 package that has 48 pins and is 6x6 mm. The QIAA is the aQFN73 package with 73 ball pads and is 7x7 mm. So size, and pin layout/number is the only real differences between the two parts.

The package variation of the QFN48 package is.

    • The QFN48 package does not support USBD.
    • VDD and VDDH are short circuited inside the QFN48 package. Therefore, the device is only usable in Normal Voltage supply mode, and not High Voltage supply mode.

So, there should not be any issue having no separate dtsi file for QFAA package.

    Thanks.

  • Thank you Kazi!

Good that I don't need to write another dtsi-file. Some engineer have done a really good work ThumbsupBlush

I will remember these two importand differences. Thanks for pointning them out.
