nRF Connect for VS code Serial Terminal Connection Problem

Hello,

I have problem about the serial port connection on VS code. I cannot see my device in the connected device list ( I can see the " no devices found " sentence under the connected devices list) ). I have not problem in my com port, cable or hardware because if i check the connection in other terminals like realterm, i can connect to the terminal. But this connection cannot be seen in VS code. How can I solve this issue?

Hi,

Does the device show up if you use the following command in a terminal?

nrfjprog -i

If it does, changing the device provider in VS Code might fix the issue. Go to settings > extensions > nRF Connect and find the 'Device Provider' setting. Change this from nrfutil to nrfjprog.

Hello Marte,

What if device not showing up even if I change setting to "nrfjprog"?

I can see it from Windows device manager and also get data from other serial monitor, but just not seeing it on vscode with NCS.

Just confuse does it show nrfDK only on it? I'm trying to get UART working on my custom board.

Hi Alan,

Does the custom board have an onboard J-Link debugger or are you using a J-Link debug probe with it? Only J-Link devices show up in the nRF Connect for VS Code extension.

Hi Marte,

thanks for reply, I understood now, There's no Jlink on my board, I'm trying for an usual serial port like ch340, which could be found in "Serial Montor" next to the "Terminal" window
