Invoking APP_UART_FIFO_INIT causing runtime error in nRF51 DK V 1.1.0 2015.26

I am using nRF51 SDK 8.1. When I add this code:

APP_UART_FIFO_INIT(&comm_params,
                     UART_RX_BUF_SIZE,
                     UART_TX_BUF_SIZE,
                     uart_error_handle,
                     APP_IRQ_PRIORITY_LOW,
                     err_code);

 APP_ERROR_CHECK(err_code);

on my program, the nRF51 DK goes into error mode(as indicated by LED) on runtime. What could be the possible reason behind this? Are the RX and TX pin same for the new nRF51 DK as declared in app_uart.h?

What error code are you receiving in response to the APP_UART_FIFO_INIT? There at at least 5 possible errors according to the documentation.
