nRF Connect for Desktop installation on Windows 10 Pro fails.

I tried to install nRF Connect for Desktop on a Windows 10 Pro laptop without success.

I tried several versions, version 4.2.0. Windows 64 bit included, having the same issue.

This is the first message after lunching installation setup:(nRF Connect for Desktop is running. Press OK to close.)

And this is the second: (nRF Connect for Desktop can't be close. Please, close it manually and press Retry to continue.)

Pressing Retry the problem persist and I can only press Cancel.

I tried installing version 4.2.1 but the same error persists.

Hi.

Talking to our dev. team; the reason for the error indicates that there is another nRF Connect instance running. This has to be closed before installing. It might be a zombie process running in the background causing this. To fix this, you either have to find and closee this process or reboot the computer.

Please try this and let me know how that works out.

Hi there,

I got the same issue when updating from 4.2.0 to 4.2.1, although I do not see the first prompt, only the second.

Process Explorer does not find any nRF Connect for Desktop or any other Nordic processes prior to attempting to launch nRF Connect and update. While the prompt is open, the only Nordic-signed process which is running is nrfconnect-setup-4.2.1-x64.exe.

I cannot reboot my PC right now, so I only got that information.

I rebooted the pc and only restarted the installer. I just see the installation program running. I also checked background processes:

I solved the problem with support from my help desk. It was due to a Microsoft administrator rights problem.

I probably did not have full rights...
