PPK2 and hibernation

We are using the PPK2 in a test rig to control the power supply and measure the current of an attached device. We recently discovered that the PPK2 did not behave properly if the PC is put into hibernation mode and then woken up.

I have been able to duplicate this issue using the Power Profile in the Nordic nRF Connect Desktop application. The sequence is:

1) Start the Power Profile and select the relevant PPK2 device

2) The PPK2 LED changes from Green to Red.

3) Switch on the power to the remote device.

4) Remote device operates as expected.

5) Put the PC into hibernation mode.

6) PPK2 LED stays Red as expected.

7) Awaken PC

8) Remote device continues to operate

9) Toggle power to device using PPK2 - nothing happens

10) PPK2 remains unresponsive unless you stop the Power Profile then open/close the serial port for the PPK2

I cannot tell what version of PPK2 firmware I am running but the log from the Power Profiler checks it and finds it OK.

There seems to be an issue with the PPK2 serial port after waking up - is there a fix available?

  • Hi

What hibernation mode exactly are you putting the PC in here? Are you just putting it to sleep or turning it off entirely? My guess is that the computer don't check for ongoing USB activity when waking from these and thus requires serial ports to close and open. I have asked the devs internally to confirm this or not and I'll get back to you when I hear from the devs.

    Best regards,
