Issue on installation v2.5.0 toolchain

Today I installed a new v2.5.0 toolchain on vscode, and vscode shows the toolchain version as v2.5.20231017 (computer A). Is it normal? I installed it on another computer, but v2.5.0 appears normal (computer B).

OS is Windows 10.
In addition, on Computer A, the 'Contains emphasized items' mark appears in the 'Source files - nRF Connect SDK' in nRF Connect extension window of vs code, and not on Computer B.

I didn't make any changes after installation.

I'd appreciate it if you could tell me what the problem is.

  • Hello,

That seems to be the VSC extension version after the NCS version. That is a bit strange. Are you only seeing this when using 2.5?

I am not so sure about the "Contains emphasized items", but I assume that is fine. Just VSC trying to shift your mind towards something it deems important.

I have only installed 2.4.2 and 2.5.0. Of these, symptoms appeared only in 2.5.0.

Anyway, the symptoms disappeared without reason from this morning, even though there were no special measures. I experienced several unknown symptoms while installing the nRF Connect SDK. It was really painful. Some of the computers were installed without any problems, and others showed unknown symptoms, so they were installed through several reinstallations. I don't know if there are any more people who have experienced the same thing as me.

I hope so, but I'm not sure.

  • Yeah, that is odd.

So are these problems just strange symptoms like what you've described above, or does it actually affect how you work with NCS? Have you for instance been getting errors when building anything?

I can't say that I know of any other people experiencing the symptoms you are describing exactly. But I have seen some issues, that are due to a variety of reasons.

One that comes to mind was due to VSC having already having a few problematic files installed from before, which led to errors. Another is that NCS might sometimes not download all of the files it needs if you for instance download it through a VPN, which of course leads to a few reinstalls.

I'm glad it works for you now at least.

Fortunately, so far, there has been no specific problem with the build and run so far. But, I just feel a bit uncomfortable.

I fully understand that it is difficult to give a clear answer to these questions because they are difficult to reproduce and there is no data to support them.

Anyway, thank you for your sincere answer.
