"no boards found" in VS Studio

I am trying to create an application using the V2.5.0 tools and SDK. I have been working with V1.7.0 for several years and all is working fine. I installed the V2.5.0 using the toolchain manager and i open VS Studio. When I go to create an application I get "No Boards found". Can you tell me what I am doing wrong. I never had the available boards not show up using any of the earlier releases. I have attached screen shot of the problem.

  • A git expert colleague  looked at my directory and said the GIT repository was corrupted. I deleted the entire V2.5.0 installation and tried to reinstall it. I am having the same problems I had when I originally installed V2.5.0 I have tried repeated times and it will not install. It gets part of the way (~10%) and then just stops or fails. I have tried over a dozen times to install V2.5.0 again. Do you have any idea what is wrong and how I can install V2.5.0; Is there any other way to install V2.5.0 correctly. This happened the first time. It took a dozen times to install and maybe that is why something was corrupted. I am dead in the water without v2.5.0 working correctly since I can not develop any code obviously.
