TX power setting in Direct Test Mode

Hi,
My H/W is using nRF52840.

I update my nRF82840 DK board with Direct Test Mode F/W and do test DTM by DTM app in "nRF connect for desktop".
And, I put nRF82840 DK board in RF chamber to measure TX power by RF test equipment.
I change TX power in DTM App, RF test equipment's measured average power and peak power are changed following with TX power setting in DTM app.

And I update my custom board with Direct Test Mode F/W changing UART port.
And then I do test same with configuration, put my board into RF chamber, changing TX power in DTM app, but RF test equipment measured average power and peak power are not changed at all. Fixed.

What happened to my board.
F/W, DTM is from you. I change only UART port information.

  • Hi,

Q1: Have you verified that DTM runs as expected on your custom board?

Q2: Do you get any errors in the PC application?

RF test equipment measured average power and peak power are not changed at all. Fixed.

Q3: Do you mean that there's no output when setting a carrier for instance?

Q4: DTM has a strict dependency on the external 32M xtal. Is this running as expected on your board?

    Kind regards,

    Håkon

  • Hi,

Q1: Have you verified that DTM runs as expected on your custom board?

-> I test single and sweep function and looks working well.

Q2: Do you get any errors in the PC application?

-> There is no error message on log window.

Q3: Do you mean that there's no output when setting a carrier for instance?

-> Output power is measured some value. but, not change even though I change tx power in DTM app.

Q4: DTM has a strict dependency on the external 32M xtal. Is this running as expected on your board?

-> My application is working well. advertisement packet can be received by DK board.

  • Hi Paul,

Good to hear that the hardware connections works as intended. The issue is then that the output power is not varied while using the PC application, but this works as intended with the nRF52840-DK.

Could you share information related to which SDK (NCS or nRF5) and which version of said SDK you're using?

    Kind regards,

    Håkon

  • Hi Hakon, Paul,

It seems I have the same issue here. Were you able to find the reason and to resolve this issue?

    Thank you,

    Sylvain

  • Is the issue that you want to change the default output power?

If yes, please see this thread:  RE: Change DTM TX Power in Zephyr

If you still see issues, I would suggest opening a dedicated thread.

    Kind regards,

    Håkon
