About Scan request callback patents

I would like to use the Scan request callback function, and I saw that Silicon Laboratories has applied for a patent.

Is it necessary to pay a patent fee to Silicon Laboratories?

  • Hello,

Is it necessary to pay a patent fee to Silicon Laboratories?

No, you will not need to pay a fee to Silicon Laboratories directly to make use of this patent - this is all covered by the fee you pay when you pay to register your product with the Bluetooth Signal Interest Group (BT SIG).

I.e when you pay to register your product with BT SIG you license the use of all their BLE related patents, so that you may use the BLE technology and trademark in your product.

I hope this answers your question, but please do not hesitate to ask if you should have any follow-up questions, or if anything should still be unclear! :)

    Best regards,
    Karl
