"Install toolchain" in Visual Studio does not work

I am a total newbie when it comes to Visual Studio and the nRF environment, but have been using Linux & Windows for 25+ years.

I have installed first VSCode (system-wide) on my Windows 11 (64bit) laptop and then the 'nRF Connect for VS Code Extension Pack' as described in the guide.

But when I go the nRF Connet's "Welcome" pane and click "Install Toolchain" nothing happens. I've tried closing and starting VS, as well as rebooting the computer - without help.

I previously had an installation of VS and the nRF Connect extension, but had removed this. Maybe there are some remants somewhere that confuses the setup process?

I can see the nrF5340 Audio DK connected to the laptop in the Connected Devices pane.

Well, I can answer my own question:

Don't follow the instructions here: https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/nrf/installation/install_ncs.html#install-ncs

But these instead:

https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/2.5.1/nrf/installation/assistant.html

Hello,

As a general rule you should always use the documentation version which matches the NCS version you are using. The latest documentation can be different from one day to the next while the tagged versions stay the same.

Great that you found a way to install NCS through our documentaion.
