How to update a central role device OTA?

Hi,

I have a device that is configured to work in GAP central role. This device only scans for specific advertisements from specific devices. Could you suggest how I can use DFU bootloader from nordic to update this device OTA. I use s120 softdevice. My specific questions are:

1.) If central device only scans how can another device(updater) connect to this. Shud the central device also advertise in order to announce itself for dfu to work?

2.) What is the best practice to update a firmware that acts in central role? I would like to know exact steps or any example would be nice.

Hi Arjun,

Actually S120 can operate with peripheral role as well. It can't operate as both role at the same time.

You can have a look at this case.

Do you plan to have a button on the central device that you can press to enter bootloader or you want to set it to bootloader mode from the peripheral device ?

We moved to S130 just in case. But I see what you mean. With a button we can trigger DFU mode on reset from NRF51 dfu example. We could do this with S130. I suppose it would be same for s120.
