Using JIO 4G sim card in India can't connects to NB-iot . Here network provider supports NB-iot do we need to buy a separate sim card for NB-iot or we can use our normal sim and use some AT commands to activate nb-iot in that normal sim card.

Hi,
I'm in India Using JIO 4G sim card in India can't connects to NB-iot . Here network provider supports NB-iot but if i try to connect the network it is searching for a network. I tried few AT commands (set command AT%XSYSTEMMODE=0,1,1,0->but error 518) to enable NB-iot in my normal 4g sim .do we need to buy a separate sim card for NB-iot or we can use our normal sim and use some AT commands to activate nb-iot in that normal sim card?. Because in service providers website I seen NB-iot PAN India(jio's NB-IOT is available PAN India and covers 95% + census population). If i call to the service provider and ask about NB-IOT services they don't have any idea of this! .so, what I need to do now whether I need to buy a special sim card with nb-iot support or we can use our normal 4g sim and try to activate nb-iot using AT Commands or i need to buy e-sim of the same service provider which is 5G so this only can connect to network and work?I'm new to this can you please assist me?

  • I have written to multiple people but they all redirected me to contacting Jio or Airtel. I did that as well, and that didn't help much. None of them are interested in doing any small scale prototype or DIY projects. You need to commit to large scale projects and even then, there is a lot of process and paperwork.

I ended up having to do this outside India. The ecosystem for DIY NB-IoT projects in India is non-existent unfortunately.

I'll be happy to know if someone else found success in getting through all the regulatory hurdles.
