I just installed nRF Connect for Desktop 4.4.0, the latest available right now. After installing a few things and all possible updates, I ended up in the position shown in the screenshot, with the Board Configurator and Quick Start both complaining that:
"The app only supports nRF Connect for Desktop >=4.4.1, which does not match your currently installed version"
I'm guessing that v4.4.1 is just about to be released, but thought I'd report it in case there is some other problem.
