nRF Connect SDK v2.5.2 Open command prompt not working on Windows 11

Hi, I am unable to launch the command prompt using Toolchain Manager v1.3.0 and nRF Connect SDK v2.5.2. I am currently running Windows 11. The command prompt has been a problem in Windows 11 for several other applications as well, unrelated to Nordic. Is this a known bug?

  • I will need to investigate a bit as it is not something I can recall seeing reported here. Is the terminal unable to launch at all? Which terminal are you using?

  • The command prompt cannot be opened from the nRF Connect SDK v2.5.2's "Open command prompt" button in the small arrow menu.

I am using "Windows Console Host", i.e. the old command prompt program, due to Octave having problems with the new Terminal program in Windows 11.

  • Thanks, do you face the same issue if you open the nRF Connect terminal inside VScode?

  • This seems to work. Additionally, "Open bash" in the small arrow menu works too, which I have mainly used instead of the command prompt.

  • I have seen a few reports saying downgrading to Toolchain manager v1.2.5 or 1.2.6  solves the problem with command prompt not opening. The recommended way to handle the toolchain is to use VScode so I see no harm in downgrading
