PPK2 amp mode overcurrent

Hello,

I'm starting to use the PPK2 to understand the current consumption of various IOT products. I have a question about what happens in amp mode should a dead short fault occur or other high current demand situation. Should the PPK2 have 2-3a run thru the VIN/VOUT pins will this damage the PPK2? I understand we wont see a current measurement above 1a but I'm just trying to avoid damaging our PPK2

Hi,

Maximum DUT admissible current of the PPK II should not be exceeded. The current measurement capabilities of the PPK II get permanently damaged relatively quickly, if used above the maximum measurement rating. (A matter of seconds.) While the kit may still appear to work in the damaged state, current measurements will be poor.

Hi, this has happened to me as I reversed polarity at a mere 3.7V.  I would have expected some current limiting protection, is this not built into the ppk2?

If you make ppk3, offer usb configurable current limit.
