Some questions of nRF9160

Hi Support Team

A) How long it takes for the power on reset for the nRF9160?  It seems there's no description about this in the specification file.

B) Questions about the use of the Online Power Profiler for LTE

1) Only the DRX and eDRX are mentioned on the Cellular IoT Fundamental of DevAcademy, but not mentioned iDRX and cDRX. What are the terms in the red boxes of the below screenshot mean and how they influence the current consumption?

2) What are the phases in the below screenshot mean. Many thanks.

3) And what are the phases in the below screenshot mean, how they different with eDRX?

C) What is eSIM and how it use for nRF9160. Many thanks.

  • Hi,

There is a link at the bottom of the power calculator, which points to this page:

     Guidelines (LTE)

This should help you understand what cDRX and iDRX is. Network sync is a part of the initial connection/synchronization towards the network.

    Same with SIM sync.

    C) What is eSIM and how it use for nRF9160. Many thanks.

It is a SIM card, just packaged as a IC instead of a "normal" SIM (ie. same form factor as you place in your phone)

    Kind regards,

    Håkon
