Question about soldering QIAA-R package.

Hi i planing to create some PCB with chip NRF52810-QFAA-R.

The pins on package is bit small so i wonderng if is possible solder this chip with home equipment (solder stencil, heatgun, solder iron, unregulated heatplate) or if is there some challanges or its imposible.

I never done that dificult soldering job and my main concern is about placing chip on place corectly. I got idea if 3d printed stencil could help with placement.

If someone soldered this chip formfactor sucesfuly (or unsucesfuly) can you share some taughts whats important what was challange or if its simple easy seamless proces.

  • Hi,

It should be okay to solder, but depends on your expertise and level of soldering. Could be a good idea using the 3D printed stencil. But you could also wait to see if other users have had similar experiences too and conclude using their contributions. Slight smile

  • Hi Priyanka ,

    Good Day ,

Can you please relevant document for below required information ?  - mpn : NRF52840-QIAA-R

    • Stencil thickness
    • Paste printing footprint
    • Grain size of the solder paste
    • PCB specifications for the connection points (diameter of the contact points) and for solder mask (possibly exposing the contact points)”.

“The current data sheet from Nordic-Semiconductors is version 1.8 and describes the mechanical properties of the component “nRF52840-QIAA” types D00 and D10.

    Looking for your valuable support.

    Thank you

    Regards

  • Hi Manoj,

Apologies for the delay as I was away on vacation. It would be better if you could create a new ticket regarding the issue as it's a bit different from the topic of the ticket, and so that it's easier to look into the topic as well as helps proper experts to look into it.

    Regards,

    Priyanka
