6lowpan Bluetooth Smart RPi image or router

There is a fair amount of documentation suggesting that a Raspberry Pi or consumer router running OpenWrt can be set up as an edge router for Bluetooth.

The builds involve a lot of setup steps including cross-compiling firmware and patching the kernel, etc.

Does Nordic or any other commercial company sell a router pre-configured to perform the 6lowpan Bluetooth Smart edge router function including having the joining daemon bluetooth_6lowpand installed?

Or, is there a complete image available for Raspberry Pi to do this function.

Hi,

For the dependencies of the bluetooth_6lowpan module, please see this thread: devzone.nordicsemi.com/.../

In later versions of Ubuntu, Raspbian, OpenWRT Chaos Calmer (use opkg to install kmod-bluetooth_6lowpan), the bluetooth_6lowpan module is delivered as precompiled, so no need to manually compile the kernel unless you really need to.

The bluetooth_6lowpand is still quite new, and needs to be manually compiled. We have no premade binaries for this. It's still in continuous development. AFAIK; there are no commercially available products that has bluetooth LE support ready-made with this setup at the time of writing this response.
