Enter the password for pairing and binding the peripheral

https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/f/nordic-q-a/44658/communication-probl

I want to change the code provided in this link to enter the password from the peripheral

  • Hello,

You need to swap their IO capabilities:

So that the peripheral has the display, and the central has the keyboard. Then you need to set up the events that displays and enters the key on the other devices. I think it should be pretty straight forward.

    best regards,

    Edvin

  • Hello,
Thank you for your help. Now I can enter the password from the peripheral. But I also want this paring process to be controlled because right now it's automatic pairing and bonding as soon as I power it up. I want the paring process to start when I type "PAIR" in the serial debugging Assistant. Here's my code.

    This is the peripheral code.
    Looking foward to your reply.

  • Hello,

The pairing/bonding process is initiated when one of the devices calls "pm_conn_secure()". In your case, I see that you call it from the central in the BLE_GAP_EVT_CONNECTED event in ble_evt_handler(). Remove this call, and add it wherever you want to (such as in the event of a UART interrupt, if the user has input "PAIR".

    Edvin

  • Did you followed these steps:

    1. Open the provided link and download the sample code.
    2. Locate the section of the code where the pairing and binding process is handled.
    3. Modify the code to prompt for the password entry from the peripheral device.
    4. Test the changes to ensure that the password entry is correctly implemented and the pairing process works as expected.
