nRF52840 Dongle Unrecognized through SWD Tag-Connect header

I have the nRF52840 dongle plugged into my USB port.  I connect the J-Link via Tag-Connect adapter to the header pads on the dongle.  I'm unable to recognize the board through J-Link on nRF Connect programmer and through J-Link Commander.  I assumed this should just work straight out of the box.  What am I missing?

I've read the details about the custom firmware needing to set REGOUT0 and the program has that once it can be flashed.

I'm familiar programming this way with our own custom boards with the nrf52840.

What voltage does the J-Link run at here. This error usually either shows up when there is a voltage mismatch between the two devices connected or if there is a bad connection, I.E. the soldering isn't done properly. Since you haven't soldered anything to the Dongle, it could also be an issue with the connection, but if you've done it for your custom boards, my first bet would be on a voltage mismatch between the Dongle and the programmer.

The J-Link base model uses automatic detection to detect the target voltage applied to VTref.  I tried hooking up a 3.7V battery to Vbus when its not plugged into USB and that did not work either.

Do you have a pinout diagram for the nrf52840 dongle 10-pin SWD layout? 

I can double check to make sure we didnt do a non-standard pinout on our devices.

Thank you.  Ill update once tested, but I believe the issue is with a non-standard SWD connector pinout we've adopted throughout our boards.  I've ordered a standard connector to test with.
