Device Reboot after every 30 seconds

Hi, 

We have designed a custom board and just have started testing. We are observing nRF9160 device is rebooting after every 30 seconds. What could be the reason here. We have flashed asset tracker hex file for initial testing. 

Need to know root cause of this issue and looking for support from Nordic here.

Hello,

This could be due to various reasons. Have you configured the asset tracker application for your custom board by including the board files? Please make sure that the power supply is stable and can provide the necessary current during peak usage. The nRF9160 can draw significant current during transmission events. Are you enabling the watchdog timer?

I recommend enabling the logs to get a better idea of the reboot reason. This can also be a hardware issue. Have you done a hardware review with us?

Hi Abhijith, 

We just observed that device is rebooting as SIM was not detected. Other device that has SIM detected that does not have this issue. 

What could be causing SIM detection issue on first device?

Hello,

One potential issue could be SIM voltage. Which SIM card and what is the supported voltage of the SIM you are trying with? Please see that nRF9160 supports only 1.8v SIM cards. Have you tried changing the SIM card to make sure it's not an issue with the SIM card?

Is there any message from the log that describes the issue?
