Wifi raw scan result for wifi aware (NaN) protocol

Hello,

I am trying to scan wifi raw packets sent under Wi-Fi Aware or NAN (Neighbor Awareness Networking) protocol.

However, the raw data buffer given is incomplete. I got some vendor specific information but nothing from the NaN attributes (message payload).

Would it be possible to receive entire wifi packets of a wifi NaN message with the nRF7002 ?

I use the nRF7002 DK and the VS Code nRF Connect extension (SDK v2.6.1)

Thanks for your help.

  • Hello,

I am letting you know that I have been assigned to this case, but I haven't started working on it yet. We are very few working due to some internal sickness, and it is bank holiday on May 9th here in Norway. I will get back to you by May 10th, Friday, or Monday next week. Sorry for the delay happening here.

    Kind Regards,

    Abhijith

  • Hi

I'm afraid we don't support Wi-Fi NaN, but we have support on the receiving side to get raw scan results including Vendor Specific Information Elements that are used for the Drone Remote ID. You can refer to the scan/shell sample in NCS versions from 2.4.0 and onwards if I'm not mistaken. The NaN attributes are not supported unfortunately. We here in tech support don't have details or a road map on if/when something like this might be available, so you will have to ask the regional sales manager of your area for more info on this. If you don't know who this is or how to reach out, let me know and I'll help you get in touch.

    Best regards,

    Simon
