We are using a Segger JLINK to program a nrf5340 product using the SWD interface. We have been successfully programming units using a design where there is a 100k pullup resistor connected to the micro nRESET input and the nRESET pin on the Segger JLINK.
We recently had a hardware design change which removed the 100k pullup and inserted a push-pull buffer between the Segger JLINK nRESET and the nrf5340 nRESET. Is this allowed? Does the micro ever pull nRESET low?

Yes, setting the level directly should not impose any problems.
Does the micro ever pull nRESET low?
Not while the device is powered.
Q1: How many of your devices has issues with initial programming? Is it only some devices or all devices?
Q2: Could you add "--log" to the nrfjprog call and share the log file here?

So far, this problem has only occurred on 1 out of 2 boards tested. The problem did not occur on initial programming. We were able to successfully program two boards initially. On one of the boards, we had programmed an application erroneously which was enabling the POFCON with thresholds set at 2.1v and 2.7v for VDDH. The supplies VDD and VDDH are connected together and were running at 2.4v.
We realized the POFCON event was being set, preventing further FLASH programming of the board through the SWD interface. We were able to reprogram this board with firmware not enabling the POF, by connecting VDD and VDDH to 3.2V. After a power cycle, it appears the SWD interface is locked.

Your .log file shows that the debugger is effectively not able to connect or detect any device. It is a similar output you'll get if you just disconnected the programming cable.
PS: This is probably not related to the issues you're seeing now, but I noticed that your nrfjprog/JLink versions are quite old. You can download the latest here:

Hi Hakon,
The problem is that the internal LDO regulator on the micro is damaged. The DECRF/DECR voltage measures 0.4v and the DECD supply measures 1.4v. On a good board, all supplies measure 1.1V.
For now, we're going to assume the internal regulators were damaged when the board was being handled. We have programmed 5 other boards so far without issues.

Is this still occurring on only one device? if more devices behave this way, it might be beneficial to involve our QA department for failure analysis of the device(s).
