nRF9160-DK programming fails

Trying to use the nRF Connect quick start with the evaluation board and the programming fails.

    NOTE: For additional output, try running again with logging enabled (--log).
    NOTE: Any generated log error messages will be displayed.

    So do I need external power supply in addition to the micro usb?
    I got this board "as a used one" so I have no idea what should be included (except the sim is installed)
