subscribing to a characteristic after connection establishment takes 3-4 seconds, how to fasten this?

Is there a way to do this quicker?

I have my own custom characteristics. Is it like bonding will imrpove this? Atleast for the case of a reconnection?

Is it bonding which would fasten this up?

Actually I figured out that when I : in windows do a search and pair the device, then in python I can subscribe to the characteristic in about a second.

Is there a flag in prj.conf (nrf connect sdk 2.6.0) which makes windows ask to pair upon first connection? Something like "CONFIG_PAIRING=y"?

That makes sense, if you bond, then you don't need to do the service discovery on every re-connection.

No, not directly. But if you have some characteristics that require security, the GATT client will typically request pairing during/after initial service discovery.  I also recommend this dev-academy:
