nRF52 data rate

With the change from nRF51 to nRF52, the data rate became a minimum of 1 Mbps.

Nordic proprietary radio mode,

nRF51 250 Kbps.

nRF52 1 Mbps,

What is the difference in communication range and current consumption?

  • Hello,

The nRF51 is very old product from Nordic and there are several Devzone tickets comparing nRF51 and nRF52 series like these:  NRF52 and NRF51 (Beacon) Range  For the power consumption, you can use the online power profiler to check the consumption on thenRF52 and nRf53 series: https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/power/w/opp. There are no similar tools for the nRF51 series, but the nRF52 series has better power consumption.. The nRF51 is not recommended for new BLE designs anymore.

Range will depend on antenna and environment, and we can't really provide any value here as everyone test it differently (it can be as short as 10m or as long as 100m). You should get a kit and try it out in your environment to know how it performs.
