How to add Custom Board in west workspace

Hello!
I am using nRF Connect SDK 2.6.0v.

I created a west workspace and i want to make custom board.

I took reference from Devacademy nRF Connect SDK Intermediate Lesson3/exercise1.

In Devacademy example it is not showing for west workspace.

While building Kconfig file is accessing from from installation path.

Please suggest some inputs

Hi,

I'm not that familiar with using west workspace but couldn't you first create the custom board as they do in the DevAcademy and then use that custom board when you build your application with west? 

How is this west dependent?

I read developing a product using  West workspace is better.

Developing a product without West workspace is also good? If its not a problem i will proceed with Devacademy tutorial.
