nrf9161-dk Verification failed for asset tracker v2 using Quick Start v.0.2.6

I have bought an nrf9161-dk and following the documentation, I was installing the asset tracker using nrf-desktop v.4.4.1 (because v.5.0 crashes everytime I open it in full-screen).

Nevertheless after the modem firmware is flashed and asset_tarcker is successfully copied, I go to the verification phase and it and click verify just to get the message verification failed.

Some relevant info:

OS: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

Desktop Environment: Default (Should be Gnome)

Kernel Version: 6.5.0-41-generic

NRF board configuration: board is connected and powered through USB, and boot configurator options are the default

I cannot attache the log, as the website is giving me an error as well, so I will just copy it

Would appreciate any help, we just bought this development kit couple of weeks ago, and still have not enjoed playing with it

And I also am failing to register the device onto the nrf-cloud but I believe it is due to this failure here, so lets do one problem at a time

  • Hello,

Yes, this is unfortunately a known bug that our software team are working on. Good to know that app and modem are programmed and (hopefully) working.

    Kind regards,
    Øyvind

  • Hello Øyvind

The modem and the app are programmed, however when accessing the cellular monitor, I press start, the program just stalls forever. Although the SIM that comes with the nRF is already inserted...

As for the Serial Termminals, it does not work when I install the Serial tracker

  • Do you get any errors when using the Serial terminal? Any indication to why it does not work?

    Kind regards,
    Øyvind

  • Hi Øyvind

I will provide an elaborate reply, detailing what I am experiencing.

When I install an application. I see the blinking lights on the board.

And before I start the LTE monitor I open the serial terminal and attach to the port to see response for the commands sent after I press start.

Modem frimware is v.2.0.1 for all applications

    So here goes:

    ASSET TRACKER V2:

    - One blinking light, verification fails in startup and no response on the serial terminal as can be seen below when I press start in the cellular monitor application. (Also tried the other ttyACM port, nothing as well)

    SERIAL LTE MONITOR:

    - Two blinking lights, verification passes in startup and there is a response on the serial terminal after I press start in the cellular monitor app, but it remains stuck at the  second command (screenshot below).

    MODEM SHELL:

    - One blinking light, verification passes in startup and I am not sure if there is a response on the serial terminal because I see many successive commands but nothing on the stdout of the shell after the commands are issued. However it gets stuck at the AT command related to XSIM (default SIM card inserted, that came with the development kit).

All my trace files are empty as I believe the the app has never started working in the first place.

And I ignored the comment in the image below, as I am not running a custom application, but rather the ones provided by you guys, so I believe it is already enabled
