I'm using the nrf9160, sdk 2.4.0 and tool chain 2.6.1. I need to scan the i2c sensor, I didn't find the i2c scanner example. So i was add one code and tested i'm getting the -5 error.
Could you please suggest any example regarding the i2c scan or help me to fix this issue.

I have used the following prj.conf for the hello_world project and compiled & flashed on 52840DK and then used i2c commands from shell to scan for devices.
CONFIG_GPIO=y CONFIG_I2C=y CONFIG_SHELL=y CONFIG_I2C_SHELL=y
