Visual studio code extension on Mac OS

I am trying to setup visual studio code with nrfConnect extension on MacOS 14.6.1 running on apple silicon.-
After installing the extensions, I am not seeing the welcome menu to manage the SDK/Toolchain as shown here - https://docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/nrf-connect-vscode/page/reference/ui_sidebar_welcome.html

Here is the screenshots with details showing extension, and VS Code version

Any guess what is going on?

  • Hi Aaron,

Did you try opening the VSCode via the Toolchain Manager in the nRF Connect for Desktop application?

Do you have this issue then too?

    Regards,

    Priyanka

  • I will try doing that at the next chance I get. When I opened the nRF Connect for Desktop, it recommended to use the extension to manage SDK/toolchain.

  • I installed the sdk/toolchain from the nRF Connect for Desktop, and the welcome menu appeared on the visual studio code UI. Got as far as building an app by creating the build configuration. But things under 'Actions' like build, debug, flash etc are missing.

  • Following up with another round of uninstall-reinstall of the extension from VisualStudio Code extension menu fixed the ACTIONS.

  • Hi Aaron,

So are you able to see everything now?

  • Each time  I make some changes to build configuration, the ACTIONS menu disappears, I have to uninstall/reinstall the extension to make it reappear.
Also has issues with debugging, where it complaints about -86 error. and not able to launch debug
