We switched from nrf9160 to nrf9161 and got the first boards manufactured. NRF9160 has been working fine but we wanted improved GNSS functionality on board.
Now we are facing a surprising problem we were not expecting. nrf9160 seems to come with a pre-assigned IMEI on the modem, however, on nrf9161 that's not the case.
There was good documentation on how to write IMEI to the device but I could not find good documentation on generating the IMEI or where to obtain one. I assume I can't just freestyle it?
I would like to know how to properly obtain or generate IMEI number for my device as a manufacturer and if any hints if there are any legal responsibilities assigning my own IMEI.
