nRF Connect SDK Fundamentals - Trouble with installing SDK 2.6.1

Hello,

I have tried several times installing the programs, toolchains, etc as outlined in Lesson 1, Exercise 1, but am never able to complete the installation of SDK 2.6.1. I'm using the defalut folder, and see the size of it quickly goes up to 4GB. After this, it continues to increase in size slowly while still displaying the "Updating zephyr repository..." dialog box at the bottom right of Visual Studio. It indicates the source as "Source: nRF Connect for VS Code". I let run for 5 days while on vacation, and it still failed to get past this, and the folder grew to ~70GB. 

Any ideas to successfully install the repository for use in VS Code?

I've did same step and no trouble arise, to be more specific I've followed the suggest:

Starting September 2023, It is now possible to download nRF Connect SDK and its toolchain directly from within VS Code, as explained in this guide.

so I've followed the first video and then at the endI've also disabled the CMake extension from Microsoft because it give trouble during the developing.

Disabling the Microsoft CMake extension fixed the problem, thank you for your assistance!
