nrfconnect vscode extension problems with "Add Build Configuration" wizard and "Actions" view

Hi,

running the latest nrfconnect vscode extension (v2024.9.31) the "Add configuration wizard" comes up and stay blank. Additionally, the Actions view is also empty, while its progress indicator keeps running.

 

Rolling back to v2024.7.13 the build configuration is OK, yet the Actions view is still empty and loading indefinitely.

Rolling back even more the build wizard seems good, while Actions always blank and loading (so maybe these are separate issues)

I'm running an Ubuntu devcontainer in vscode 1.93.0 on Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS host.

Let me know of any other detail that can help in troubleshooting

I have the same issue exactly, when I try to add a build config, i can only see a blank page for build configs.

but if i click to another project's build config which is already created, i can see the action buttons and build files even though i have the missing compile_commands.json error.

zephyr = v3.7-branch

nrfsdk = v2.8-branch

BTW, when i was installing the nrf extensions, I got this error.

just an update, i rolled back to nRF Connect SDK v2.6.99-cs2-branch, zephyr v3.6-branch and disabled the kconfig extension, and now everything is working as expected. 

Could it be some compatibility issue between zephyr, nrf sdk and exntesions?

just an additional update. I think nrf-extension is not support hmv2, thats the reason we are seeing a blank page, so, had a change on the board path in my module, and now im getting this error but i can see now the build config page.. So just the workaround, I am creating build configuration on the terminal by running 

 west build -b yourboard --pristine

then you will be able to run action buttons and the rest of the functionalities.

Hi,

Release Notes webpage for nRF Connect for VS Code extension v2024.9.31 mentions added Hardware Model v2 support. There might not be full HMv2 support in the extension yet but build system support should be there.

Hi zsn ,

I tried the workaround (again on Zephyr 3.7 and latest vscode extension). Pristine build from the terminal works like a charm.

However, the action buttons are still not working in my case (view is empty with, at best, a progress bar never ending).

How did you exactly change the board path?

Hi stefanino ,

1. Make sure you disable Kconfig extension. (Maybe devicetree too, it was disabled too when I was testing it. But now I have the devicetree extension enabled ).

good question .  Im just scratching my head to remember what I did. But not really. Only one thing I can say is that im sure I had a only change on my custom board in my custom module.

So, maybe you can try to remove your custom board if you have. And observe if the extension is working or not.
