Although the PDP context was deleted, the nRF9160 modem fails to recognize this, preventing it from sending data to the server.

Hi Nordic,

I am using modem nRF9160 to send a couple of bytes to my server. However, I have a problem with the PDP context. More particularly, when the PDP context is deleted, and a new PDP is activated, but the modem cannot recognize this. So, my IoT node seems to be down and cannot send data to the server.

I wonder if there is any solution to deal with this issue.

I am using the Emnify SIM card, and the nodes are deployed in Vietnam.

Best regards,

Văn Vũ

  • Hello,

Are you able to provide logs and modem traces from the device, please? What modem FW are you running on your device? We will need to have a look at the modem itself to understand if the network stops the pdp connection.

    Thank you.

    Kind regards,
    Øyvind

  • HI Øyvind,

Thank you for your quick response.

My nodes are deployed in the field, and occasionally, they fail to send data to the server. Upon investigating the EMNIFY SIM console, I noticed that the previous PDP context was deleted (See the picture I sent earlier).

I checked the power supply of the nodes, and everything seemed fine. However, after resetting the modem, the connection resumed. This issue occurs randomly - about once a few month - making it difficult to capture logs at the time of failure.

    - I am using the firmware version nrf9160dk_mfw-1.3.6.

    Best,
