nRF54L15-PDK External Power

I would like to power the nRF54L15-PDK from an external source for power measurements. On the nRF52-DK I am able to power the chip through P21 and measure current through P22.
My main goal is to power only the nRF54L15 chip and not the associated debugging chips so that I can more accurately measure the power consumed just by the nRF54L15 chip.

On the nRF54L15-PDK I can measure current through the VDDM Current Measure headers. Can I power the PDK through these headers? Can I use the VDDM_nRF and VDD_nRF through holes to power the kit?

If I am able to power the kit externally, what voltage should I power it with?

  • Unofficial, may be helpful: If using up to 3.6V (say a coin cell) use VDDM_nRF on pin 1 of P4 or pin 2 of P6, in both cases nothing on pins 1 & 3 of P6; this requires use of VREGM within the nRF54L15 which may be less efficient. If using below 2.6V use VDD_nRF on P4 pin 2 with nothing on P6. P4 is on the board you have but not shown on the schematic.

With only VDD_nRF the external flash memory U9 is not available (unless SB10 is jumpered or VDDIO is present) and all QSPI pins connected to U9 must be floating or driven low. VDDIO would require P5.0 or other external power source.
