Locator tag is failing to connect

Respected Sir / Ma'am

We are trying to out the Locator Tag application

Successfully built and programmed the code on the nRF52840.

I can see the pop-up on the Google Pixel phone, signed in with my Gmail ID.

When I tried to initiate the connection, it got disconnected with Reason 19 on the UART console, and ISSUE with connecting on the Phone.

We are using the default model ID provided by Nordic in the locator tag application and evaluating things on DK (No code changes are done in the default app).

I have two questions regarding the issue

1. Do we need to first register with Google, get the MODEL ID from Google, then replace the model ID on the locator tag application, and later do we need to evaluate?

2. Is it possible to use Google Find My Device Network using the Nordic-provided model

It might be worth highlighting in the Nordic documentation that the locator_tag sample has a high prerequisite bar in order to use for mere mortal independent developers and hobbyists.

    As stated in our documentation:

Google Fast Pair Service (GFPS) is a standard for pairing BluetoothRegistered and Bluetooth LE devices with as little user interaction required as possible. Google Fast Pair standard also supports the Find My Device Network (FMDN) extension that is the main focus of this sample demonstration. For detailed information, see the official Fast Pair Find My Device Network extension documentation.

This means that we follow Google requirements and in order to develop a device for the Google Find My Device Network, you will need to follow these requirements. We are not able to change the requirements. This is to prevent hobbyists from developing unwanted tracking devices, ensuring professional products on the market.

For further questions on the Google Find My Device network, please reach out to Google or see their Find My FAQ.

    Kind regards,
    Øyvind
