McuMgr via BLE with a Windows machine

I am going through the nRF Connect SDK intermediate course, which is really cool made. There are a few things that are out of date, but otherwise it is pretty nice. It would be nice to update the examples with sysbuild, it uses the old build system and it prints the warning that it is going to be deprecated.

Is there a way to do a FOTA on a Windows machine using the BLE protocol? It works with serial, but I could not get it to work with BLE. I get this error:

Did I do something wrong?

I would appreciate a Python/C/Rust/Go/... library which would work. There is an android app, so I thought it might be a ble version on a windows machine.

You didn't do anything wrong, I think Windows just has a limitation when it comes to the mcumgr tool.

The SMP server Example says

The mcumgr command-line tool only works with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) on Linux and macOS. On Windows there is no support for Device Firmware Upgrade over BLE yet.
