Discharge Inquiry for npm1100.

Hello.
When a lithium-ion battery is discharged (sim discharge) after not using it for a long time
If you charge it at npm1100, the battery will not charge.
When charging starts, a current of 0.006A is measured, it does not charge at all, and when a current of 0.048A is applied, the charging LED comes on, but charging does not proceed.
When a current of 0.5A is measured from time to time after it is not being charged, it is charged at this time.

On circuits using bq27542 and MCP73833, normal charging is performed under the above conditions.

I would like to ask if there is a solution.

  • Hi

How/where are you measuring the current drawn here, and how exactly do you charge the device? It sounds strange that the charging LED is on without any actual charging. Could it be that it is charging very slowly depending on the current going onto the battery here? How much current is the rest of the circuit drawing by running exactly? Since the available charge current on the nPM1100 (per spec.) is from 20mA to 400mA it makes sense that the 0.006A current doesn't initiate charging.

    Best regards,

    Simon

  • Hi

Sorry, but I don't understand Korean, so I just used a translation program, so misunderstandings or misinterpretations are likely. In the future, please post tickets and replies in English which is the language used in Nordic Semiconductor.

Regarding the 2.1 reference voltage you're mentioning, I assume this is the BUCK output voltage. There is a configurable output voltage selection that can be set with the VOUTBSET1 and VOUTBSET0 that can be toggled (not during operation) to set the VOUTB voltage. The minimum voltage during charging is 2.1V and can not be lowered I'm afraid.

    Best regards,

    Simon
