So i have this issue. I use nrf52840 Dongle, from some article long time ago i saw that i cant connect dongle to VS Code because it does not support bootloader, is it fix or still not ?. Article continues that i need to use Connect to Desktop to flash, yes but i need .hex file. How can i generate this .hex file if VS Code cant do that if i dont have connected device nor build configuration . Is there any other options where can i write a code which then i can compile to .hex file ?

The nRF52840 dongle does not have a debugger on it, so in order for it to be detected in VS Code/to program it, you will need to use the Debug Out port of any of the DK's or an external debugger (like JLink).. Say you are using an nRF5840-DK, you can just connect the Debug Out port of the DK to the dongle using a 10-pin connector as stated here: https://docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/ug_nrf52840_dk/page/UG/dk/hw_debug_out.html

Also, VS Code do havF2840 dongle in the target lists:
You could also use the command prompt in the SDK to build and flash (using west commands), or use the programmer to flash the hex file.
