nrf9160 Private LTE Support

I am working with the nRF9160DK and the Thingy 91 to do some basic evaluation.

I was wondering if these devices supported Private LTE connections.

Hello,

The only requirement for working with nRF9160 is to have a SIM card that has access to LTE-M and/or Nb-IoT.. Please take a look at the GSMA website to see the available network providers in each country that supports LTE-M/Nb-IoT: https://www.gsma.com/solutions-and-impact/technologies/internet-of-things/deployment-map/

For Nordic devices, as long as you set up a private NB-IoT/LTE-M network that follows the below standards as specified in our datasheet, it should work as expected.

• 3GPP LTE release 13 Cat-M1 and Cat-NB1 compliant
• 3GPP release 13 coverage enhancement
• 3GPP LTE release 14 Cat-NB2 compliant
