The SIM activation will never finish


I followed the “Getting started with nRF9160 DK” page (docs.nordicsemi.com/.../nrf9160_gs.html) to activate my iBASIS, However, the process is still not finished with “Activate SIM Card”.

Select Quick Start in “nRF Connect for Desktop”.
Select “Asset Tracking” in “Select an application to program”.
Install Modem core Firmware v1.3.6, Application core Asset Tracker v2.
The message “Verification successful” is displayed.
Then, connect to nRF Cloud and start SIM activation.

For reference, if you enter “AT+CSQ” using AT commands, you will get +CSQ:99,99 back. Can't it be used with Japanese LTE?

  • I just trid to add LTE Device.

    The display was indicated "There was an error adding your device: No device found for this id. The device has not yet been just-in-time provisioned. Troubleshoot nRF Code 40412"
    The Code 40412 is 
    " No device found for this id. The device has not yet been provisioned."

    I followed the resolution column to find out.
    I determined that all ID, PIN number and other codes are fine.
    I suspect that the LTE connection is not working.
    In fact, I entered the AT+CESQ command and got the following response.
    > AT+CESQ

    +CESQ: 99,99,255,255,255,255
    What is the problem with a strong signal but no connection?

  • I was able to activate the SIM and register it on the device.
    After investigating the cause, I found that the band lock status of the nRF9610DK's default settings was different from the LTE bands in Japan, so I was able to register it without any problems after making the correct settings.
