Can't launch Power Profiler in nRFConnect for Desktop V5.1.0

Using the "launcher" the open button appears to do nothing and the update from V4.2.0 to V4.2.1 produces an error message.

Twice I have uninstalled V5.1.0 and replaced it with V5.0.2 which works correctly (pressing the Open button actually does launch the Power Profiler app) including updating V4.2.0 to V4.2.1 (Power Profiler).

Has anyone else encounter this issue?

    I haven't heard about anyone having trouble to launch power profiler app in nRF Connect for Desktop v5.1.0 with power profiler v4.2.1.

    update from V4.2.0 to V4.2.1 produces an error message.

    What is the error message that you are receiving.? Could you share it here.?

  • So the root cause was IT policy appears to block the Power Profiler from running because it uses the APPDATA folder.

    The solution is outlined in the thread below  .. the cliff notes edition is

     NRF Connect 

    After you install V5.1.0 go to the Windows nrfconnect shortcut and edit the target value to add the bold red text to the end of what is already there.  This will cause the program to put many user files in the directory C:\nrfconnect-user-data and therefor get around the IT policy restriction.

    "C:\Users\djh\AppData\Local\Programs\nrfconnect\nRF Connect for Desktop.exe" --user-data-dir "C:\nrfconnect-user-data"
