How do I set the set EXTRA_CONF_FILE CMake option for the Bluetooth Peripheral UART sample in nRF Connect SDK v2.8.0 (VSCode)?

I am trying to build the Peripheral UART sample in nRF Connect SDK v2.8.0 targeting the nRF52805 SoC using VSCode.  The sample is too large for the nRF52805 flash (linker overflow), so I am trying to build the minimal version. The Activating sample extensions section in the documentation states:

"...set EXTRA_CONF_FILE using the respective CMake option in the following manner:

• For the minimal build variant, set it to prj_minimal.conf."

Where is the prj_minimal.conf file located? How do I add the CMake EXTRA_CONF_FILE option in VSCode?

I mistakenly selected the sample project from the zephyr folder instead of the nrf folder.  After selecting the correct sample, `prj_minimal.conf` is in the application directory and I can specify to use it by selecting it under "Extra Kconfig fragments" when creating a new build configuration.  It no longer overflows when building for nrf52dk/nrf52805.
