nRF52840 BLE based Product - RED Certification

Hello Nordic,

We developed our product using MCU NRF52840-QFAA-F-R. Our client is based in the EU. We plan to launch our product in 1-2 months.

I have a few questions regarding certification:

  1. Do we need a RED Certificate for our product?
  2. Is Bluetooth membership (Associate/Adopter) required?
  3. I found on the forum that we can register our product with a QDID. Could you please provide more information about this process?
  4. We have utilized the nRF5 SDK 17.1.0 and SoftDevice 7.2. However, there seems to be no QDID information available for nRF52840, nRF5 SDK 17.1.0, and SoftDevice 7.2. Could you please provide the QDID and any related information?
  5. Are there any other certifications required for us to launch our product in the EU?

Thank you for your assistance!

Regards,

  • Hi,

I'm going through a similar path but also for the rest of the world, EU is quite a handful, here's a few points. You will need a compliance regulatory guy to put your product through certification testing if you want to sell it in EU. There's Nordic's White Paper 006 and 010 to get you going. You will need to be a member of the Bluetooth SIG in conjunction for your BLE product to register your device as a BLE device for sale.

    Good luck
